I HAVE FINISHED MY ANNA'S GARDEN DRESS!
Since Competing this dress, I have pulled my support of the Alabama Chanin company. The contents of this post were true at the time. I am very proud of the work I did on this dress. I guess it is like the way you love your children after a divorce. I have entered it in the Sew Stylish Spring Fashion Challenge. Here is a photo of me in the dress for my entry:
I can hardly believe I hand-embellished and-stitched this entire dress! I feel like I did after delivering my kids, glad I embarked on the journey, thrilled with the result, physically and emotionally exhausted and fairly certain I will not consider taking on the task again for a least a year! This has been quite a journey which I have written about here. I have also written a detailed pattern review here.

Happy New Year and Happy Sewing!
Beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stephanie!
DeleteIt is beautiful! And I love the tag.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura, I thought the tag was fun! (So glad you stopped by, you were in a sewing conference dream I had last night. Totally random!)
DeleteGorgeous! Love the colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love your work and the color is beautiful! TFS!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annette!
DeleteHooray for you!!! It's gorgeous, and I love the tag, too. You're not selling this one, are you? That would break my heart, but at least you can charge out the wazoo for it. I believe on the website a completed dress would be upwards of $1000, wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am very pleased with it. It would be hard to part with this one, but I am saving for a Studio Week so I will be taking offers for purchase. Dresses on A.C. begin at $1000 and that would make a dent....
DeleteI just got word of two weddings to attend this year, so I actually have a place to wear it if I keep it! (I also now have a reason to make the full dress in Paisley!)
Just found your blog . Fantastic job this is on my to do list I have both books...Where did you purchase your fabric
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay in the response. The fabric of this dress if from a jersey sheet ;)
DeleteBeautiful dress, and I love your style in general. I ordered a kit for the plum A line dress from Alabama Chanin. Making it will be a stretch for me artistically and financially, but the dress is so beautiful I must give it a try. Looking forward to reading your blog on your journey with this dress.
ReplyDeletecompleted dresses on their website sell for above $4,000. Did you decide to sell yours or keep it.
ReplyDeleteI could not see myself spending that much money on a dress, though after making many, understand the price. I have kept mine and wear it on special occasions. I am not opposed to selling it. I will happily make one for someone for the bargain price of $3000! :)
